The Philadelphia Flower Show provided so much design inspiration and when it came to connection to many of the displays, the room displays were inviting including the place settings.  The one with the Belgian waffles was delightful and an attention grabber including mine.  Everyone remarked at how delicious the waffles and fruits looked so I decided to share how I prepare mine and this from scratch recipe I found sugarandsparrow.com

 

Belgian Waffle

• 2 1/4 Cups (298g) all-purpose flour
• 1 Tbsp baking powder
• 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 2 large eggs, separated
• 1/2 Cup (120ml) vegetable oil
• 2 Cups (480ml) whole milk
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1.   Preheat your waffle maker.  Add a coating of cooking spray waffle if your waffle iron requires it.

2.   In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.

3. Add the egg whites into a medium bowl and beat or whisk until stiff peaks form, 2-3 minutes. Set aside.

4. In another medium bowl, add the egg yolks, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined, then pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Gently fold in the egg whites with a spatula.

5.Pour the batter onto your hot waffle maker and cook according to the manufacturer's directions or the steaming stops. 

6. Add your choice of fruit or syrup and a little whip cream for a delicious breakfast treat!

 The Philadelphia Horticultural Society Flower Show is the Best

 

Spring is almost here although you wouldn’t know from the weather. Trees and flowers are blooming and snow is falling. Other states are experiencing record heat. 

Inside the PHS Flower show everything is perfectly bloomed thanks to the greenhouses who participate with unique techniques they use to accelerate the growth of the blooms of the show displays to provide all the inspiration shared.  I am a thrift hawk, so The Thrift Couture Botanically Inspired display was another of my favorites.

These theatrical artistic floral gardens displays and arrangements by visionary artist left me in awe. 

 All of the materials are live and natural as they blend nature with artistic design. 

This is the biggest flower and garden show in the nation. It draws about 250,000 guest and display over 6000 flower and plants.  I can't wait to see what next year brings for this show.
