Earth Day Thrift

Happy Earth Day! I thrift the best and leave the rest.

With thirty years in business, it’s amazing to realize how quality has changed and the absence of many items from the market. Sometimes I find just what I need in thrift stores. I enjoy thrifting for staging merchandise and the hunt for beautiful antique and vintage items too.
Since textile is my main business operation, social responsibility is important. One of the most significant contributions of recycled textile products is their ability to reduce waste. Only 1% of discarded clothes are recycled. Recycling textiles generally consumes less energy and generates fewer emissions compared to producing textiles from virgin materials. Additionally, recycling diverts textiles from the incineration process, reducing the release of harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This not only helps mitigate climate change but also improves air quality. Prioritizing environmental responsibility, supporting, and adopting recycled textile products can be a significant step.

Springtime Tea

A change in the season is underway and it is absolutely beautiful. The beginning of Spring gave way to white flowering trees everywhere followed shortly by pink flowering trees and shrubs all over Northern Virginia.
